I wasn’t able to complete the second and third level of the museum because it became so crowded.
However, if I didn’t read a little about the war fought between North and South Vietnam and the conflict after, I would have thought that this was just America invading Vietnam. The “Requiem” display for the killed photographers was beautiful. Pictures of victims of Agent Orange, babies in jars, Tiger cages, some really graphic and horrible images and more can be found on most galleries. The exhibits were well done and photographs/content outstanding. Moving on, I slowly grasped the idea of the museum just from looking and reading the stories. I thought it was odd, and then I realized that this place is a tribute to the Vietnamese side of the story. Then, there was this declaration of Independence plague positioned right next to a picture of an American soldier executing a Viet Cong soldier.
Inside, the walls are plastered full of gory images of Vietnamese children and victims of the war. The entrance fee is 15,000 VD.įrom the outside, we saw some planes, tanks and machinery in the main courtyard.
It is located just around District 1, and it’s open from 7:30 a.m.
After exploring the city of Saigon, we decided to end the day by visiting the War Remnants Museum.
